The Little Prince
“Goodbye,” said the fox. “Here is my secret. It’s quite simple: One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes. . . . It’s the time that you spent on your rose that makes your rose so important. . . . People have forgotten this truth,” the fox said, “But you mustn’t forget it. You become responsible for what you’ve tamed. You’re responsible for your rose. . . .”
--from the book "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Exupery
Anekantvada
I read about this on Guri's website -" The principle of “Anekantvada,” describes the world as manifold, an ever-changing reality, an infinity of view points depending on the time, place, nature and state of the one who is the viewer and that which is viewed. This is one of the key beliefs of Jainsim."We forget this belief so easily in our own lives and strive to make the world see what we want to see. When it ceases to see our perspective we are disturbed and want to nullify all other perspectives. Only in the diversity of views is there the light of truth.
Wings of Fire
From the book Wings of Fire by Dr.APJ Abdul KalamHe quotes what his father had once told him -Whenever human beings find themselves alone, as a natural reaction, they start looking for company. Whenever they are in trouble, they look for someone to help then. Whenever they reach an impasse, they look for someone to show them the way out. Every recurrent anguish, longing, and desire finds its own special helper. For the people who come to me in distress, I am but a go-between in their effort to propitiate demonic forces with the prayers and offerings. This is not a correct approah at all and should never be followed. One must understand the difference between a fear-ridden vision of destiny and the vision that enables us to seek the enemy of fulfillment within ourselves.
I-dent-it-y ( I dent it Why )
"The purpose of life is ... to know oneself. We cannot do so unless we learn to identify ourselves with all that lives."
